UPDATE: Fort Island Beach has been CLOSED until further notice due to the storm surge damage from Hurricane Helene. The Crystal River Triathlon scheduled for October 12 has been cancelled. We truly regret having to take this action, but as with any "Farce Majeure" Hurricane related weather event, the decision to proceed is controlled my the authorities for the sake of the general public. Back to back Hurricanes have proved too much for us this season. We were working just last week to move the event to Inverness (25 miles East) however do to the impending land fall of Hurricane Milton expected mid-week and the expected inland damage due to it passing directly over our area, they have pulled our permit applications.
As you hopefully understand, Refunds will not be offered. If you have already registered however, we offering a couple of options for your race entry. You will receive an email outlining your choices. Your safety is our primary concern and we expect many of our athletes live in the affected areas, so we would rather focus on more immediate issues and take the Triathlon off the table for this year. We urge everyone to seek refuge and evacuate as directed by authorities. We want to see you next season.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We are all dealing with the issues that come with these types of storms. I know there are thousands of people out there affected much worse than most of us and I try to keep that in perspective. Many people in our local community lost their homes to Helene and many more are now facing another threat to their homes and businesses. I appreciate your understanding and together we can get through this. We love each and every one of you and want to see you next season, so please be smart and be safe!
Sincerely,
Chris Moling, Race Director

The USAT Age rule requires that all participants race by birth year rather than their age on race day. This means your race age will be the same for all sanctioned events for an entire calendar year. The age group of a participant will be determined by age on Dec. 31 of the event year, not by age on race day.
